This segment is a tribute to Motown music from the British pop show, "Ready, Steady, Go". Broadcast in March 1965, it features two great female vocalists of that wonderful era for music.
It's a rare meeting of the "blue eyed soul" of Dusty Springfield and the passionate vibes of Martha Reeves. This was the first Dusty song I remember hearing--in an "oldies" documentary way back in 1975-- and I had to go right out and get a .45 of this one.
(Much, much, later I found out it was one of my wife's favorite tunes as well, so that's kismet for you.)
Martha Reeves and her group, now finally and fittingly installed in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, surpassed The Supremes early on in my affections because of Martha's more grown-up style of vocalizing and the fact they recorded such adrenilin-starters as "Heat Wave" and "Quicksand".
Good stuff I think. Hope you enjoy.
Very good song. I have always enjoyed it. Thank you for reminding me.
