Young Mitt Romney: Pro- War Draft Avoider, Dog Torturer, Prep School Punk, and now...Fake Cop!

(Right)  Young Mitt Romney protesting against anti-war protesters while enrolled at Standford University.  He supported the Vietnam War but ducked the draft with deferments, in the proud tradition of Dick Cheney, Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich and quite a few other chicken hawks who supported that war and plague us with their patriotic hypocrisy today. But, wait, folks, it gets weirder:
In  addition to the more bizarre behavior of Mitt Romney that has been well already publicized (such as the dog on the roof of the family car in the 1980's, or the hair-cutting/forced  assault on a gay student at the Cranbrook Preparatory Academy in 1965 when he was a 17-year old hooligan,) we can now another eccentric and disturbing bit of weird and unsettling behavior to the would-be president---he was a cop impersonator.
From the article in The Daily Beast: "'One former classmate told the National Memo, "He (Romney) told us that he'd gotten the uniform from his father," then the governor of Michigan. "He told us he was using it to pull over drivers on the road. He also had a red flashing light that he would attach to the top of his white Rambler."

(see link below, at bottom of blog)

I suspect, like the apparent gay-bashing incident, Mitt will only admit that it was some biit of tomfoolery that he doesn't remember but will apologize for anyway and dismiss rapidly as he can.  The fact is "The Demon Barber of Cranbrook" was quite the bizarre lad.  While at Stanford he picketed AGAINST an anti-Vietnam war demonstration in the Bay Area while at the same time drawing four deferments to prevent his going to fight the war he supported.
According to a book "The Real Romney" by two Boston Globe reporters, Scott Helman and Michael Karnish,  Romney was upset that two dozen students had occupied a portion of the university administration offices. http://mije.org/richardprince/first-gay-president-mdash-not

"Mitt was incensed. Skipping his study discussion group for Western Civilization class, which was focusing that spring on the works of Lenin and Marx, Romney put on a blazer and attached a large sign to a pole: SPEAK OUT, DON'T SIT IN. Gene Tupper, a photographer who then worked for the Palo Alto Times, snapped an indelible image that showed Romney in his white shirt and dark jacket, thick hair sweeping over his forehead, appearing to lecture a protester as he brandished the sign.
"The picture ran the next day in the newspaper with a caption that read, 'Governor's son pickets the pickets. Mitt Romney, son of Michigan Gov. George Romney, was one of the pickets who supported the Stanford University administration today in opposition to sit-in demonstrators.' Mitt was at the forefront of a group of about 350 antiprotesters, who shouted at the antiwar group, 'Down with mob rule!' 'Out! Out!' and 'Reason, not coercion!' When a university official announced that students participating in the sit-in would be disciplined, Mitt shouted, 'Come out of the office and let school continue!. . .' "

Notice that Mitt was among 350 protesters against all of about  24 anti-war protesters.    Surely, this was a profile in courage!

Doug's Site will continue to keep you on the cutting edge (sorry) of Mitt Romney's Excellent Weirdness as they are revealed.  I suspect this will not be the last gem of violence, animal cruelty,  war drumming,    police fetish-dressing (a felony in most states) and slumming/pseudo-terrorism on unsuspecting vehicle drivers to be revealed.

  1. A sidebar: In 1967, Governor George Romney (Mitt's father) and possible Republican Presidential Candidate for the following year, gave an interview to broadcaster Lou Gordon on the subject of the Vietnam War. His views on the war seems to have done a more liberal metamorphosis.

His "brainwashing" comment regarding the hype was given while in Saigon meeting the American military establishment there was used against him by conservative Republicans as a dis-qualifier for the nomination. Dick Nixon became the nominee and won a narrow victory in the general election.

  3. From everything I 'know' about Romney, I'd profile him as a sociopath. I sincerely mean that. However, when I was a practicing psychologist, they were the most difficult for me to 'label.' They don't know right from wrong. As they mature, they learn what gets them into trouble, & the charm of their craft is a terrible thing to see.

  5. Pay close attention to "Real Time" with Maher ( HBO ).. He really does his home work with respect to Mitt and the Republican trash.

  6. I love Bill Maher, he sure tells it like it is, with like you say the R trash.

  7. Yes, it's amazing how little airtime this personality background of Mitt gets, compared to all the coverage of the non-story of Obama's birth certificate.

  8. He is certianly capable of saying anything AND disavowing anything in his past to get elected. He was once for the individual health care mandate, for gay rights and for women's reproductive issues. He's sold his soul to the tea party and repudiated the only time he spent actually governing. A strange bird indeed Lujica.

  9. That's another good source in my mind as well, Stephen.

  10. I think Maher pulls zero punches, Marty, which is apparently how the electorate likes it. If the right hits you, and you don't hit back, you lose. Ask John Kerry.

  11. Yes I wish CNN and other stations would talk about this stuff. Bring it all out into the open and just smash him with it. I think its important for everyone to know what a snake he really is. Especially the veterans who support him...how in the world can anyone who has served this country in battle can vote for this draft dodger is beyond me.

Good grief, I hope this code works. It most definitely confirms what I said about Romney being a sociopath. In any case, it's very, very interesting.

  13. It worked for me, Lujica. I saw this segment a few days ago. Thanks for adding that use of the very, very misleading Romney quotes. The lies will get bigger and I hope Maddow and the rest of the media will hit him over and over on it.

  14. It's the most blatant, fraudulent, political pandering backed by 100's of millions in private donations that I have ever seen in my lifetime. How could anyone vote for a man or woman who knows that with the bankruptcy of the Auto Companies, Thousands would have lost their Jobs and then say "let them go bankrupt" instead of "how can we help them". Is that the man you could trust to make a decision for you? Not me Brother 8-)

  15. I didn't see the video, I knew nothing about it. I've been sort of out of the loop for awhile. Thanks,Lucija. I'd like to post this, if anyone remembers me.

Romney is a low down yella bellied sidewinder, and those who support him are either filthy rich, or stupid. In either case, they are even lower in my humble opinion.

On that note~~does anyone know of a forum for the right wing? I often feel I'm talking to my own mouth here. I think we need the people who haven't gotten the message yet, to see this. Thanks.

  16. Well said, Sigurd.

The trouble I find with right wing forums is that they go from zero to liberal to "commie" so fast it's like arguing with a brickwall.

Just about any online newspaper comments section has a slew of those jerks.

  17. I agree with you, Doug. If they haven't gotten the message, they never will. Trying to 'enlighten' is a waste of time.

  18. I was at a friends page earlier and she had someone from the right saying that Obama is a commie and that we should listen to Fox more to learn the truth, she is one of those that thinks our president is a socialist and we will find out what happens if re-elected at the end she said, I pray Obama is reelected....I said back so do I.

Like you say, its like talking to a brick wall, nothing gets thru those brains that are so infected with crap from Fox and Limbaugh, so its no use trying. There are a lot of those same jerks on here too, its just lucky most of us dont get them to come on our sites to spew their garbage.

  19. I try to be optimistic, Lujica, but talking on blogs to hard-core righties, even my friends, seems a waste. I wish anyone else the best for trying, however.

  20. I agree totally Marty. If somebody wants to debate facts and go over records of candidates, I'll do that.

If they just want to make stuff up, then let them write a novel and then go try and sell it.

  21. That would be a good response to some of their idiotic comments. Gee this is cool. It says: "Selected text is not part of the comment being replied to. Please select again." I tried to use your last sentence. This has happened before.

"If they just want to make stuff up, then let them write a novel and then go try and sell it"
    NUTS. .

Then the durned thing left practically a page of emptiness. I'll delete it.
