Colin Powell trashes Romney's foreign policy advisers

Former Secretary of State Powell should know a thing or two by now about bad or "cooked" foreign intelligence after his United Nations speech in the run-up to the Iraq War.

(A speech he has now admitted was a mistake, based on being fed rotten intelligence by the CIA ,who were being pressured as you now know by the NeoCon wing of the George W. Bush Administration, specifically the office of VP and Torture Enthusiast Dick Cheney. )

For more on Powell 's reflection on his 2003 UN speech: http://video.msnbc.msn.com/mitchell-reports/47538206/#47538206

In a recent interview on MSNBC, the former member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and cabinet Secretary doesn't appear too impressed with Mitt Romney or his foreign policy team.

  1. I like Colin Powell, he sure doesnt seem like an R to me....I think he will go with Obama again this year. He is one smart dude and says it like he sees it.

  2. I think Powell will endorse Obama again as well, Marty. I think he's waiting for a later time when the endorsement will have maximum effect.

  3. It's all within strategy, as well Colin was thought of as running for President Doug. And in those times he declined it as back then he didnt wish for his entire family to be in the limelight. Powell has always been on which has that integrity.
Very smart gent he is as the likes of him are the ones which think beyond the small scope of things and the larger picture.

  4. Yes, Jack, I don't think he would have done well as a Presidential Candidate because he would have been reminding people too much of the long-term. Election politics these days is a short-term game.

  5. This is very good news, but not surprising. I think his endorsement will be greatly effective. He was admired & respected by a diversity of people.

Isn't it bizarre. I wish we could keep reminding people, over & over. They seem to have to forgotten. Eight years of hell, & a huge deficit to hang on President Obama's shoulders.

"Election politics these days is a short-term game."

    Well said!

  6. Thanks Lujica. It's too ridiculous to go back to an all-GOP team in the Congress and the White House, whic his what concerns me above all other political matters this season.

  7. I myself think the people in this country are smarter than we give them credit...I think they have seen the error of what they did in 2010 and voting for all the teetotalers.....What happens in Wisconsin will tell us on June 5. If Walker is beaten by a democrat...then this will show all the other jerks in office that their days are numbered. As long as the dems keep reminding the country what happened and what will happen if "they" take over the white house and congress. I know some minds will never be changed, but I am hopeful that some will be opened up and their eyes open to see what the consequences will be if they elect any R's into office.

  8. I think there will be some backlash to the tea partyiers in some districts, Marty. A lot more people are going to be voting in 2012 so that will be in the Democrats favor.

  9. "Powell said he could support a Republican in the 2012 campaign — if someone emerges who is like the Republicans he voted for in the past.

“I’ve voted for Republicans who were strong on defense, who believed in a free and open economy, but who also understood that there’s a place for government in our lives, that government has a responsibility to those of our citizens who are in need and those of our citizens who are needy of health care,” Powell said."

Jack, that was September 2011, thank God.

  10. Thanks for the link Jack. I would think no GOP candidate would meet those qualifications. The only suspense I think would be if Powell endorses Obama or no one.

  11. That last clause in Powell's statement indicates to me that Romney is not a viable choice.

  12. If he does not, I'd really like to know why.
