One of the happier songs in my memory banks. This smash hit from 1964 is one that is a bit hard to get out of your head so I apologize if it gives you a bit of distraction later on in your day.
From the good and bright young things at Wikipedia:
"Do Wah Diddy Diddy" is a song written by Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich and originally recorded in 1963 by the American vocal group The Exciters.
"It was soon covered by British R&B, Beat and pop band Manfred Mann. Manfred Mann's version, which was more commercially successful, was recorded on June 11, 1964,[citation needed] released on July 10 and spent two weeks #1 in the UK Singles Chart in August and two weeks at the #1 spot in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in October."
This song was featured in the 1981 comedy "Stripes" with Bill Murray and John Candy and in Steve Martin's 1991 farce "L.A. Story".
Original artistic personnel:
Manfred Mann - keyboards (1962—1969)
Mike Hugg - drums, vibes, keyboards (1962—1969)
Dave Richmond - bass (1962—1964)
Mike Vickers - guitar, alto sax, flute (1962—1965)
Paul Jones - vocals, harmonica (1962—1966)
Tom McGuinness - guitar, bass (1964—1969)
This song is going to be stuck in my head for the rest of the day. At least it is a great song! Thank you for sharing
