"Newt Gingrich claims President Obama is 'waging war on religion!'. If it's anything like the War on Drugs we've had in this country for decades, religion is going to be just fine." ----Costaki Economopoulos

Those "wars" -- real or figurative -- don't ever go so well, do they?
Wars on Poverty, Drugs, Religion, Women, Choice, Racism, Inflation ... (never mind "Terrorism") take centuries to wage and never end with a peace treaty.

  6. Just goes to show how dishonest Gingrich and most conservatives are they always attempt to twist any situation into an issue that will upset their right wing extremists base. They know as well as the rest of us that the issue at hand is whether women should have the right of access to affordable contraceptives through insurance co's. Mr Obama's plan has already excluded places of worship from being required to do anything that would be in conflict with their beliefs but it's a waste of time to try and get Gingrich or most right wing extremists to admit it. The new conservative war cry "If the facts don't fit:,Lie Baby Lie" lol

  7. Which should be the end of it, Mike. But on it goes. They don't want to talk about the economy because they know that much of what has made it do bad happened under George Bush's watch and no mature voter can believe that any president can wave a Hogwarts wand and make gas go back to $2.50 a gallon.

  8. True. Ever watch Bill Maher HBO "Real Time" ? Only place to get real interpretations of what's going on, and if the news doesn't keep you laughing, Bill will.

  9. I don't have HBO at the moment, Stephen, but I always try to catch Bill Maher when he's interviewed on CNN. He is quite a sharp wit.

  10. Its sad what is going on in this country right now....with the fight on contraception for women and the church getting involved.

I love to watch Bill Maher, but I dont get HBO either and he sure says it like it is.

  11. The war on women has been palpable in this motly group of Republicans, one can almost smell the singe.

I am sure they do not want to talk about the economy, but this is close to their hearts..religions will never lose their subconcious hatred of women. In my opinion.

  12. Yes, Marty, I think America has a great deal of religious liberty and will continue to do so... the contraception issue is a dead end for the GOP. I expect Romney is going to have to pivot, and hard, away from this dead end after their Convention. The thing is...will independent voters remember?

  13. True Dragon. There are some male Democratic talkers who have issues with some women like Sarah Palin, but not the whole gender.

It is almost like Santorum-- in particular-- can't help himself. This contraception issue is settled outside the fundamentalist crowd and Catholic hierarchies. There are no new votes for the GOP on this issue. If they want to have a debate on birth control in 2012 in the USA, bring it on!
