Governor Sarah Palin Bolted to Canada For "Socialist" Health Care (from The Huffington Post) Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin -- who has gone to great lengths to hype the supposed dangers of a big government takeover of American health care -- admitted over the weekend that she used to get her treatment in Canada's single-payer system. "We used to hustle over the border for health care we received in Canada," Palin said in her first Canadian appearance since stepping down as governor of Alaska. "And I think now, isn't that ironic?" The irony, one guesses, is that Palin now views Canada's health care system as revolting: with its government-run administration and 'death-panel'-like rationing. Clearly, however, she and her family once found it more alluring than, at the very least, the coverage available in rural Alaska. Up to the age of six, Palin lived in a remote town near the closest Canadian city, Whitehorse. Officials at several hospitals in that area declined to give out information on patient visits.

  1. Doug she is going in any and every direction she can to just be. Palin is the last person I would consider authentic regardless of if she is speaking of Canada or any other country that has a two tier system. Palin is just Palin need I say more. I think you know what I mean.

  2. Yes, I agree Jack. The woman is confusing or just confused. Take your pick. Maybe she's both at once :-)

  3. I guess Calgary and Texas have a lot in common politically--they think we can solve any problem if we just put up enough oil drills.

  4. Actually yeah. There has always been a crossover between the two, meanwhile there are alternatives, one of which is nuclear power yet there are pros and cons to that
but I think that the oil companies seemingly don't wish that to take place.

  6. Before you are rich and well known you cannot afford to not believe in government aid. I find it ironic most people who do not government want to begrudge the people who need help

  7. ERR ... I want to play doctor with Sarah Palin - send her out to the boat for a breast exam

  9. Regional interests always seem to trump those of the over all nation---that's why there is always back-room deals and "earmarks", spending allocations usually unrelated to the legislation at hand, to get a bill passed in Congress no matter who is in charge.

  10. Thanks Heidi. I really do worry about Sarah Palin in high places. She seems just way over her head.

  11. You're right Fred. In all this talk about health care, the only people who speak on camera and vote on it are already covered in full, probably for life, at taxpayer's expense.

  12. LOL! She really is her own parody I'd say Melanie.

  15. First of all name one politician that always speaks the truth. Honest politician is an oxymoron. I do not fear Sarah. I think she has a purpose at this time . She is if nothing else interesting, like her or not. She is different and maybe that is not all bad. She most likely will not run for any office. I doubt she plans to. she sure can give a good speech, not a high fluting one that 80% of the people just smile and nod and never understand. I like people that make you think, whether you agree or disagree, thinking is good..Too many people are stuck thinking inside the box. Its time to open the door and look around outside. i am in the land between the two parties, do not like either of them. I still like Jesse Ventura. now there is a guy that thinks outside the box. I think he is the best thing that happened in Minnesota in a long time. Watched him on CNN on Larry King last night, another interesting person whether you agree with him or not. makes you think.

  16. Palin demonstrates here that she is not only an air-head and a hypocrite, but also a parasitical health tourist as well....how unsuitable to hold public office can one person get?

  17. don't worry they come a lot worse. and the more they come the worse they get.

  18. I think regarding Governor Palin we are going to need to agree to disagree Tess.

  19. This is a woman who can't handle being governor of Alaska and she plays coy about if she'll run for President? Yes, she is a hypocrite and she undervalues the intelligence of the American electorate. (Not an easy thing to do in some election years mind you.)

  20. under valuing the voters is not uncommon. It happened twice in the last 10 years

  21. Ann Coulter was in Calgary recently....just a thought Doug. Need I say more.

  22. I think Huffington post is a far left wing propaganda web site .Full of bias and innuendos.Sorry I tried reading it a few times and decided BS is just BS. being from a farm , I am familiar with the smell. polarization is when each side demonizes the other for some dumb reason. they are all corrupt , so why fight over who is right or wrong.

  23. this is not BS tee she really did go and get medical there when she was younger --I don't understand whom you are fighting?

  24. Maybe that's her plan, see how easy it is to confuse people

  25. Maybe she can find a nice gig up there and stay awhile Jack. She wouldn't be missed all that much outside of a few malcontents.

  26. I don't think Governor Plain is that sly Tess. Anybody who tells her followers to "reload" following the random violence after the health care debate really hasn't got a clue.

  27. I prefer websites that are attached to actual newspapers myself Tess. Call it my bias for bricks-and-mortar news outlets with a long track record. Some publications like "The National Review" and "The Nation" have been periodicals of opinion for decades and don't pretend to be anything else. I give them both credit for up-front honesty, even if I'm not a fan of the late Mr. Buckley's publication.

  29. Gosh, first Palin and now Coulter.

Seriously, Jack, MacDonald there has that lady all figured out. No one with any sense could say the dark and viscoud things she does and not be either playing a crowd or be sociopathic. I'm releived a bit she thinks she is some kind of weird performance artist. Maybe it helps her sleep better at night.

  30. Doug it's not a Canadian thing and it was just on the national news again tonight. Ones like this regardless of where they come from create division and seperation. Within a country and outside of it. It's truly a shame. I am not defending Canada but if you read it which you have she is one of many that make big bucks on this very area called sensationalized reporting. It's not reporting though - yet some believe in her sadly enough.

  31. I live out in the boonies, I have to drive 5 hours to the clinic, and I could go to one nearer that almost killed me with the lack of care. So if she did go whats the big deal. Sarah never said "do not reform health care" she said, "this bill is bad". there is a difference. of course if you want to make fun of her or hate her , you will read into her statement what you want o hear. I did not say she has everything needed to be a president.I just know she is interesting, just as i think you can be interesting. Now I do not know either of you , but as long as you are interesting I will stand for you. I do not judge people. I respect what I know of her. I respect what I know of you. I respect most of the people I meet in real time or in cyberland as long as they have manners and are interesting. Some just make me smile, some make me want to cry for them. That is life. I do not demonize people. Now i think the entire elected people in Washington are corrupt and are playing a game with all of us losing. Those I do not respect. but I will not shoot them.

  32. there are nuts everywhere. I compare her to Bill Maher, Rush Limbaugh, Joy Behar. it is a mixed bag of nuts in my book. Does anyone really listen to them and so they believe it?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yes, they do rather go together I agree Tess. Some television hosts should relearn basic human decency.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Isn't it interesting that we can agree to disagree and still use manners? Also I like the idea that you actually think about what is said, instead of a knee jerk reaction decrying what is in each post. Thank you, that kind of thinking is few and far between lately

  35. It is this is the one key thing that Doug does so well. He literally can write something and it comes not to be a tit for a tat but it is a think tank that there usually comes to be a learning experience within it all. He does it well, the best that I have ever seen.
