  1. Could be a nasty surprise for the illegal-immigrant housekeeper in certain homes.

  2. Glad to see that it's not intended for use in homes with children.......

  3. Yes, I'm glad, too, that it's not intended for use in homes with children.

(I shake my head. I really do....)

  4. What we Europeans don't get is the righteous tone that says it's good to keep guns!

I know that that is kind of provocative and I apologise in advance if any warfare breaks out here Doug.

  5. It's beyond parody really ... you can't make this stuff up, Astra.

  6. Many of us don't get it either, Jim, but we are a nation with a culture that is only going further into what I feel personally is excessive gun mania.

In the state of Tennessee, it is legal for anybody to have a rifle that can shoot fifty-caliber ammo up to five miles! The idea of shooting something or someone you can't even see with your naked eye seems odd to me if your talking the need for home protection, but that's where we are over here in some states.

  7. We on the other hand banned the ownership of any fire arm with a barrel under 24" some time ago as a knee jerk to an incident. The upshot is that our olympic shooters are mostly a joke because they can't practice enough and gun crime has not been reduced. Indeed we have seen a rise in ilegal fire arm use in commiting crimes here, which does NOT justify the legal ownership at all in my view, before that gets lobbed in to the argument.

  8. As the economy has gone downhill over here, we have seen several incidents where a whole family has been killed by a father or boyfriend using firearms. That's not talked about in all this business about gun rights--a woman in the United States is more likely to be shot or raped by a domestic partner or someone she knows with a gun in a home than by an outside intruder. What's the bedside solution for that?

  9. I was not aware of that stat Doug, but I'm certainly not surprised by it.
Interesting web site, I wish them luck with their campaign, it deserves support but some how I doubt that vested interest will allow it.

  10. If warfare breaks out between the US and Europe those Americans guns will be no match for our wagging fingers, hehe!

  11. I'd sure hate to be delivering presents to any house harboring The Back-up on Christmas Eve!

  12. I guess there is a dispute over banana imports between the EU countries and US-owned companies in terms of imports. Hopefully common gorund can be achieved witout one of those awful shooting-wagging escalations from the past.

  13. Not over here at least, Jim. The common sense gun movement has made little headway over here for years.

  14. If I were Santa I'd go in to some of these Back-Up homes only with a Green Beret or SAS escort.

This is another reason why we can't have Boxing Day over here :-(

  15. Folks, don't worry.

We'll blow ourselves up over here Across The Pond before anything gets out of hand Over There....

  16. Hahaha...yes, next year the makers of "The Back-Up" are coming out with "The Burn Up", a bedside catapault for napalming intruders. One could wipe out a whole block before you know it.

  17. Got the Glock. And it's warm. ..

But 7000 miles away from me.

  18. I don't think they have a bedside gun rack for Glocks yet anyway, Frank.

  19. I'm certain they are working on it as I write this.

  20. LOL I can't stand untidy guns myself Doug.....I like the one for each side of the bed, could be useful during domestic disputes around who has most of the duvet ...a late night shoot out should resolve the problem once and for all I think. Parking your bazooka can be such a chore!

  21. LOL. Indeed, AA, to many Americans this is just the tidy solution our Founding Fathers had in mind when they passed the Constitution's Second Amendment. And, as a bonus, at last women can achieve total political equality!! ---thanks to a handy "shootin' iron" right by the old bedpost.

Duvet-hogging issues can only be contained by each partner having the same amount of handy weaponry near-by...mutually assured ballistic ventilation would preempt much of the marital unrest our Great Republic currently suffers from.
