No, he's not dead and its not his birthday, and, yes, he's said some really stupid things about hitting women if they dare remind him to use a fork when he eats his entree at a fancy restaurant or whatever, but this clip proves Sir Sean Connery is a master of screen acting.
Wow, I thought I'd missed the headlines of the day! I'm glad it's a special time and we can all smile that he is celebrating. Bossy critter, wasn't he? Hahahaha.
ReplyDeleteLess Beatles and more Sean, oh my Sir Sean is the man.
ReplyDeleteI just love him in all his roles -- but we just saw Dr. No, and frankly I think he's even more handsome and sexy now than then. He can boss me any old time!! Of course, being the independent critter that I am -- I might refuse to mind... hahahaha....
ReplyDeleteThanks for this, Doug!!
Yes, Cassandra, all that "come on!" stuff might have worked forty-odd years back. Nowadays the ladies would probably say something "uppity" like "What's your hurry, dude? We just got here!" :-)
ReplyDeleteThe first and the best Bond in my opinion, Cille. And the master of saying little and moving fast.
ReplyDeleteYes, I wonder how the James Bond of "Doctor No" would adapt to the modern woman. Sean Connery is rather like Cary Grant--a lot of ladies seem to think he got more handsome as he got older. Personally, I appreciate that he rarely wore a hair piece in his later films.
ReplyDeleteHis face softened a lot with age and I think he just looks more "real" and approachable. I always thought he was handsome, but I really love his looks now so much more.
ReplyDeleteTo me, it does not detract from his or anyone else's looks to leave off the hair piece. Maybe because it runs in my family so strongly, I'm just used to it and don't see lack of hair as any kind of detriment. The men in my family lose their hair very young -- it was hard on them at 16, but they have all "grown into it" and are VERY handsome men with or without. It's who the person is that counts, don't you think? Well, I do.
I love TL's hair, but I'd love him just as much without it.
There was a wonderful interview on Barbara Walters with someone close to Farah Fawcett, talking about her reaction to her losing all her hair from chemotherapy. She just ignored it.. she wore a wig or head covering when she went out but at home just left her head bare. Interestingly, she had the most perfectly shaped skull I have ever seen.
I totally agree. :- ) And, yes, Farrah looked great without her hair.
ReplyDeleteThe older he gets the more attractive he gets. Even my 25 and 26 year old daughters think so.
ReplyDeleteHardly seems fair to rest of us guys ;-)
ReplyDeleteSean has always been one of my favorite actors. He is definitely an interesting individual. I have always wanted to sit down with him and have a drink.
ReplyDeleteMe too, Fred. I think that's on of the things that separate a major film star from an ordinary leading man or woman; they have a charm or some quality that appeals to large numbers of both sexes.
