Lieutenant Kijè

It isn't much to look at, but this is a wonderful orchestration of one of the most familar of Sergi Prokoviev's works. Woody Allen chose this theme to open his 1975 comedy film, "Love and Death", which was a spoof of "War and Peace" and the films of Ingmar Bergman with a little bit of Bob Hope and Charlie Chaplin thrown in. Which leads me to the next video offering...

  1. Love the Troijka. I first heard this when I was in high school. We played it in the symphonic band, It became a Christmas tradition. It is why I like "I Beleive in Father Christmas" by Greg Lake so much, Ity has a very soothing sound.

  3. I was mainly a trombone player. I also played baritone and a little drums.

  4. Trombone--just like Harry James. Cool. I wasn't exactly a musician--but I always wanted to play the clarinet.
