Intel Builds the Fastest Chip Ever
Capable of processing 1 trillion calculations a second, Intel's latest test chip, when used commercially, will revolutionize computing
That was the headline grabber reported in Business Week and all over the media this morning.
This is a step forward certainly, another step of human progress. However...
My question is, will making all that information on a little chip make human beings any better at judging right or wrong, or will it increase human understanding and the collective wisdom of mankind?
Technology continues to be a double-edged sword--no matter how fast we can retrieve information, it still is analyzed often by brains that harbor the well- worn, old pre-technocratic feelings of resentment, fear and lack of empathy for our neighbors.
A remark attributed to Dr. Einstein seems apropo: Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted.
Love counts, especially that love the Greeks called "Agape". Kindness surely counts. Peace and Understanding count. When Intel can put those on a chip, please call me.
