NINA SIMONE- 'DON'T LET ME BE MISUNDERSTOOD' (1964)
This soulful cover of the "Eric Burdon and the Animals" hit by Nina Simone set against the ugly and positive images from the Civil Rights Era in America.
Tough to be a follow-up on the original version as good as Burdon's , but this slower rendition tweaks the meaning of the lyrics into a sharper emphasis on social lamentations. The pictures in the video help as well. It's a strong presentation that's for sure.
I had never heard this version. It was ok. I prefer the Animals version better.
