One of the highlights from " Second City Television Series" (SCTV) from around 1980: Canadian actor Joe Flaherty as "Count Floyd", spoofing the over zealous late-night horror film hosts of local television during the pre-satellite television era.
No, times have moved on, Jeff--ghosts are, pardon the pun, a thing of the past.
As far as blood-sucking "Count Floyds", I guess kids are more into those "Twilight" movies and books, where the vampires look normal until you see their bicuspids. My grand-daughter reads them cover to cover in a flash and she's one of millions.
The "trick or treaters" we had seemed to go more for cute animal costumes (for the little ones) and some class of zombie for the bigger kids.
There used to be this show called the Monster Show in New York but a good Halloween there to you Doug! :)
ReplyDeleteSame to you, Jack. :-) That of course is John Candy--a very good actor in my estimation--dishing out pancakes and maple syrup in the clip.
ReplyDeleteThe buckwheat variety is in fact a scary pancake.
ReplyDeleteWe had a few "trick and treaters" but no ghosts and definitely no vampires.
