This is not the more famous "Look of Love" by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, sung by Dusty Springfield, Dionne Warwicke, et al. , from that otherwise mediocre/ too camp "James Bond" movie of 1967, of which the more recent version of "Casino Royale" easily surpassed. In the spirit of Ian's latest 1980's music video postings, I bring you a few minutes of one of my big favorites from that time, by ABC.
A classic of it's time... however there was always something that has always troubled me with the lyrics.
ReplyDeleteIn the middle eight, Martin croons...
"If you judge a book by the cover,
Then you'll judge the look by the lover"
Nice comfortable rhyme, but surely the analogy is arse about face! Judging a book by it's cover, implies you'll judge the lover by their look!
Aargh... if only I wasn't so anal I'd be able to let these things go - after all it's over a quarter of a century ago!
Ian don't look now there is a book out of place. I miss the eighties they were such a simpler time. Thank you for bringing down memory lane
ReplyDeleteYou mean my CD collection is not in alphabetical order?!!
