Some More Oregon Photos

This horse posed wonderfully for me--too bad I had no apples.

Here are some photos of Ashland and environs I forgot to post a while back, plus some newer ones I took in the last couple of weeks.

  2. Thanks. It's hard to take a bad shot of Lithia Creek--it runs right through the middle of the park. I've always liked it in late Fall, when its not too cold yet and the tourists from the Shakespeare Festival have cleared out. It becomes a little oasis of forest and stream as it probably once was.

  5. I like the signs too and the blue painted weatherboards, this cafe looks cool.

  6. "The Lost Liner" is a unique little place. I've grown very fond of hand-painted small-business signs, because it makes a place feel authentic to its neighborhood.
So many franchise businesses exist now; bland and repetitive corporate-style logos dominate the exteriors of restaurants and pubs or bars.
I like the fact that Blackball also has its share of such authenticity, particularly the sign on "The (Former) Hilton".

  7. It looks like something transported from England to me.

  8. True, it does have an English feel to it and some of those autumn leaves lying around look like the y might be oak leaves.

  9. There's a nice whacky feel to places like Formerly The Blackball Hilton and The Lost Liner, you would possibly quite like Hokitika over in Westland; its a place with a lot of character, and a wild food festival where it may be best not to know what you are eating.

  10. "Wild food!" Well it sounds adventurous. I'll have to see if there's a website on that.

  11. Don't know if I could handle the huhu grubs, but there's no way I'd go away from that hungry. Looks like great fun, where a good tiime just might be had by all. Also sounds like a lot of interesting history in that part of the island as well.

  12. I love this one. I am always drawn to water, streams, lakes, the ocean. Beautiful country Doug.

  13. Great picture Doug. The only problem with it is the title, which has set off the theme song from "Mr. Ed" which at random times comes to me and gets stuck, and this just set it off, thank you. LOL

  15. I've been there myself...good thing I don't have a picture of a dolphin up here, then I'd have the theme from "Flipper" stuck in my...whoops!! Drat!

  16. Good thing I didn't put a dolphin up on this photo album . Then the theme from "Flipper" would be playing over and over in my head right...oh, drat!!!

  17. Oh no!! I see dolphins here all the time, I sure do not want that song in my head too!! lol
