"Recorded at the Herrang Dance Camp in 2004. Nikolas "Lloyd" Lloyd and Mindi "Mindi" Lundqvist demonstrate some dance moves that sank, perhaps undeservedly, into obscurity in the swing era."
My favorite is the ape walk. Can't understand why this didn't catch on.
Moves: twizzle jig, ankle-shaker, ape walk, golf swing, bunny hop, proposal.
Ah, so, you're a follower of swingers. ..
ReplyDeleteI like Swing Music, yes. Can't dance for toffee myself.
ReplyDeleteGood music though. Not my usual bag of sweets but. ..
ReplyDeleteI like the very upbeat general tenor of the music. The Swing Era (1935-47) was really the most popular period for jazz in American history. Not better, but more accessible.
ReplyDeleteThat's brilliant - thanks for cheering me up Doug! Have a good evening
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it as much as I did, Ian.
ReplyDeleteIt lead to the Motown era. Weren't there influences and crossovers?
ReplyDeleteLots of fun, Doug!! It was my favorite dance once upon a time --
ReplyDeleteIndeed, Frank. The orchestras got smaller, and pop music evolved into rhythm and blues which evolved into many different forms, including, in the "Motor City", Motown of course!
ReplyDeleteThe golf swing or the bunny hug, Christy?
ReplyDeleteWhat the gorilla walk didn't catch on? No wonder I have so much trouble finding partners at the disco, its the only dance I know Doug :-(
ReplyDeleteNothin wrong with the Golf Swing!!!
ReplyDeleteI, too, AA, find it easier to trip the light fantastic when I have all four limbs touching the floor.
ReplyDeleteNo indeed, Frank. My worst day of golfing was better than my best night of dancing :-)
